Some people get energy from the music they listen to, or even the rocks they collect. Some people get it from being around others or being alone. Some people get energy from a touch or a feeling. Energy can be consumed just as easily as it is drained. When butt mug is in hand, my energy finds stasis. It might be in the ergonomics or in its story. It is the touch and the feeling. On a day like today, I'm keeping it in touch and that's a good feeling.

Bourbon and Bacon
New Years Eve and before long I was slathered in bacon grease. Apparently when preparing "Devil's on Horseback", bourbon is a requisite beverage. Dates were not so delicately stuffed with roasted garlic, then tightly wrapped in bacon. Every few minutes fire water fueled the process, leaving me tacky. Baked until caramelized and crispy. I can't seem to get away from anything bourbon or bacon.

Bacon beets
He went to the grocery store to get food for dinner. This is what he came up with. Baked beets with bacon. A simple salad of beet greens and homefries of tiny purple and gold potatoes along side. I held bourbon egg nog while the kitchen filled with the aroma of earthy root vegetables and pork fat.

Bourbon Santos
A midday stovetop espresso of Bourbon Santos was enjoyed with a view of blowing snow and bright sun. The roasted beans, given with love, come from afar. Each black speck is valued in flavor and aroma. Day after day a blank brown bag is pulled open and deep shiny brown beans are ground. Course for quantity. Fine for boldness.
The journey begins
I am butt a mug, but I have a unique view. Whether I hold black gold or hop pop, I am held in high esteem. What unfurls here are my perspectives on beverages and the life they encounter. A wise women once said that the female form is a vessel. Of life and of beauty. My hope is that I'll capture some of both.
